Ingredients

  • 1 box powdered fruit pectin (about 1.75 oz)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups Mountain Dew soda
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sterilize canning jars and lids in boiling water.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine Mountain Dew and powdered fruit pectin. Stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Add all the sugar at once, stirring continuously to dissolve completely.
  5. Return to a rolling boil and boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat and skim off any foam with a metal spoon.
  7. If desired, stir in a few drops of green food coloring.
  8. Ladle the hot jelly into hot sterilized jars, leaving a 1/4-inch headspace.
  9. Wipe jar rims clean and place the lids on the jars, securing them tightly.
  10. Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  11. Remove jars from the water bath and let them cool completely.
  12. Check seals after 24 hours; the lids should not flex when pressed.
