Ingredients
Scale
4 hamburger buns
2 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 packet French onion soup mix
2 large onions, thinly sliced
4 slices Swiss cheese
2 cups beef broth
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, French onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.
Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
While the burgers are cooking, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
Pour beef broth into the skillet with the caramelized onions and bring to a simmer. Let the mixture cook for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
When the burgers are almost done cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
To assemble the burgers, place each patty on a hamburger bun and top with a generous spoonful of the caramelized onion mixture.
Serve immediately and enjoy the savory goodness of these French Onion Soup Burgers!
