Beef Chow Mein is a delicious stir-fried noodle dish that combines tender slices of beef with fresh vegetables and savory sauces. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner, delivering a satisfying meal packed with flavor and texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 lb onion, sliced
  • 1/3 lb chow mein noodles
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/8 lb carrot, julienned
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 lb cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix thinly sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook chow mein noodles following package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add marinated beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry minced garlic, sliced onion, shredded cabbage, and julienned carrot until they start to soften.
  5. Return the beef to the wok. Add cooked noodles, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Stir-fry everything until well combined and heated through. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Garnish with chopped scallions and serve hot.
