Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 package or 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup melted butter, plus 1/4 cup melted butter (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup softened butter for honey cinnamon butter
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl or cup, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir well and let sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
  2. In a stand mixer or food processor, mix together the flour, egg, 1/3 cup melted butter, and salt. Once well combined, add the frothy yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface or in your stand mixer with a dough hook until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls, placing them on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. For the honey cinnamon butter, mix together the softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon until smooth and creamy.
  9. Brush the rolls with the remaining melted butter (optional) as soon as they come out of the oven. Serve warm with honey cinnamon butter.
