Ingredients
Scale
4 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine bread flour, salt, and olive oil. Pour in the foamy yeast mixture and stir until a rough dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the risen dough and shape it into loaves or desired shapes. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the loaves are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
