Ingredients
Scale
¾ cup brown sugar (for cinnamon layer)
⅓ cup all-purpose flour (for cinnamon layer)
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon (for cinnamon layer)
½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for streusel topping)
1 ½ cups white sugar (for cake)
1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for cake)
3 large eggs (for cake)
¾ cup milk (for cake)
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream (for cake)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for cake)
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (for cake)
1 tablespoon baking powder (for cake)
¼ teaspoon kosher salt (for cake)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine ¾ cup brown sugar, ⅓ cup all-purpose flour, and 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
In another bowl, combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon kosher salt. Cut in ½ cup softened unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 ½ cups white sugar and 1 cup softened unsalted butter until light and fluffy. Add 3 large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in ¾ cup milk, 8 ounces sour cream, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon kosher salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the cinnamon layer over the batter. Spread the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the baking dish for 30 minutes before serving.
