Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 4 ounces Provolone cheese
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and brown for about 5 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  2. Add onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. Saute until the veggies are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together beef stock and cornstarch. Stir in with the beef mixture. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Stir in the Provolone cheese and mix until melted.
  5. Spoon the mixture over toasted hamburger buns. Top with additional Provolone cheese if desired.
