Ingredients
Scale
2 large apples, diced
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
Vegetable oil (for frying)
3 cups powdered sugar
⅓ cup milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
Add the applesauce and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Gently fold in the diced apples.
Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet to 375°F (190°C).
Scoop about 1/3 cup of the batter and carefully place it in the hot oil, flattening it slightly.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Transfer the cooked fritters to a cooling rack placed over a pan or parchment paper to catch any drips.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Dip each fritter into the glaze, ensuring it is fully coated.
Place the glazed fritters back on the cooling rack to allow the glaze to harden.
