Indulge in this classic dessert that promises to warm hearts and satisfy sweet cravings with every luscious bite. This bread pudding is made with day-old bread, creamy milk, and a hint of vanilla, topped with a rich vanilla sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well blended. Add cubed bread and raisins (if using), pressing gently to soak up the liquid. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Pour melted butter over the soaked bread mixture and stir gently to combine.
  3. Transfer bread mixture to prepared baking dish. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until top is golden brown and pudding is set.
  4. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt unsalted butter. Stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until dissolved. Gradually add heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Allow bread pudding to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle warm vanilla sauce generously over each serving.
