Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 and 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup flour (maida)
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate Sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring milk, water, sugar, salt, and butter to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and immediately add flour, stirring with a wooden spoon until a dough forms, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle and let it rest for 2 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Pipe strips of dough over the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.
  5. Fry until golden brown, then drain on tissue paper and roll in caster sugar.
