This Splendidly Spicy Beef dish combines tender beef sirloin with vibrant vegetables and a flavorful sauce, creating a quick and satisfying meal that is both spicy and delicious. Perfect for serving over rice or noodles, it’s a delightful option for any weeknight dinner.

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 green chili, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnish
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • Cooked rice or noodles, to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the thinly sliced onions, minced garlic, and sliced red and green chilies. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are softened and aromatic.
  3. Return the cooked beef to the pan. Add the thinly sliced red and green bell peppers. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the peppers start to soften.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and the juice of 1 lime.
  5. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is coated in the sauce and heated through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh coriander leaves, alongside cooked rice or noodles.
