Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (398ml) sloppy joe sauce
  • 1 lb cooked extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, diced
  • ⅔ cup light shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1.5 tablespoons melted reduced-calorie margarine
  • 1 can (7.5 oz) Pillsbury biscuits

Instructions

  1. In a pan, cook the ground beef and diced onions until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Add the sloppy joe sauce to the cooked meat mixture. Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Pour the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. Place 9 of the 10 biscuit dough pieces on top of the meat mixture. Set aside the extra biscuit.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 14 minutes.
  7. While baking, melt the margarine in a small bowl. Stir in the diced garlic and dried oregano.
  8. Remove the casserole from the oven. Drizzle the garlic butter mixture over the biscuits using a small spoon.
  9. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 6-8 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
