This quick and delicious dish combines the flavors of pepperoni pizza with comforting pasta. It’s a one-skillet meal that brings together ground beef, pepperoni, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese for a satisfying dinner option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 6 oz pepperoni, quartered
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 lb large shell pasta
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Cook the shell pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside (do not rinse).
  2. In a large cast iron skillet, cook the ground beef until a deep crust forms on about 50% of the beef. Break apart and continue browning. Remove the beef from the skillet, leaving the fat behind.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter, diced onion, and green bell pepper. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
  4. Return the beef to the skillet. Add marinara sauce, quartered pepperoni, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the mixture is slightly liquidy, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked pasta back to the skillet and gently mix.
  6. Turn off the heat, add shredded mozzarella cheese, and stir until melted.
  7. Serve immediately.
