This Crockpot Apple Butter is a sweet, spiced delight perfect for spreading on toast, muffins, or using as a dessert topping. It’s easy to make and brings the cozy flavors of fall to your kitchen!

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 6 pounds apples, any variety
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into ¼ – ½ inch thick slices.
  2. Place apple slices in a crockpot. Add dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cloves. Stir to combine everything well.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours until the apples are soft and brown.
  4. Use an immersion blender to puree the apples until smooth. Stir in the vanilla.
  5. Continue cooking with the lid off for another 30-45 minutes to thicken the apple butter.
  6. Transfer the apple butter to clean jars. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
