Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Rolls or buns, for serving
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Generously season the chicken breasts or thighs with salt and pepper.
  2. In a slow cooker, mix together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth or water, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  3. Add the seasoned chicken to the slow cooker, turning to coat evenly with the sauce mixture. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is very tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
  4. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir well to coat with the sauce.
  5. Serve the pulled chicken on rolls or buns of your choice.
