These Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos are a delightful combination of crispy shrimp, fresh vegetables, and a spicy, creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a fun gathering, they offer a burst of flavors and textures that will satisfy any craving.

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails removed
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup corn starch
  • Peanut oil or Canola oil for frying shrimp
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 3 tsp Sriracha hot sauce, or to taste
  • 8 to 12 Small White Corn Tortillas, or Hard Taco Shells
  • 3 cups Purple or Green Cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha hot sauce. Set aside.
  2. Marinate Shrimp: In a separate bowl, marinate shrimp in buttermilk with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  3. Coat and Fry Shrimp: Coat marinated shrimp in cornstarch. Heat peanut oil or canola oil to 375˚F and fry shrimp until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Toss Shrimp with Sauce: Toss fried shrimp with half of the prepared Bang Bang Sauce. Allow to rest.
  5. Assemble Tacos: Toast tortillas or prepare hard taco shells. Fill with shrimp, sliced cabbage, diced tomato, and chopped cilantro. Drizzle with remaining sauce.
