  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (very cold)
  • 1/2 stick melted salted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Cut 1 stick of unsalted butter into small pats and freeze for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C).
  3. Stir together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the sauce.
  4. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  5. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  6. Slowly add buttermilk until dough separates from the bowl sides.
  7. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness, spread blueberries, knead, and flatten to 1 inch.
  8. Place biscuits in a cast-iron skillet and bake for 10-12 minutes, brushing with melted butter halfway through.
  9. Drizzle sauce over biscuits after baking and let cool slightly before serving.
