Ingredients
Scale
¾ cup milk
2 teaspoons cinnamon
⅓ cup butter, softened
1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 egg
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup water
½ teaspoon sugar
4 oz cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup half and half
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
Heat the milk and butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until the butter melts. Let it cool until lukewarm. In a large bowl, mix 2 ¼ cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Combine this with the egg and water. Gradually add the milk mixture and 1 cup of flour, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 9×15-inch rectangle, about ¼ to ½ inch thick. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly over the dough. Mix cinnamon and sugar, and sprinkle this over the filling. Roll the dough into a log from the long side, pinching the seams to seal. Cut into 9-12 slices, depending on the desired thickness. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch pan. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Beat the cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar in a bowl until smooth. Add the half and half, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
