Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices French bread or Texas toast
  • 1/3 cup sliced white onions
  • 1/3 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup sliced green bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup cooked steak, heaping
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Butter
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the sliced bell pepper, garlic, and mushrooms, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced steak to the pan and cook until it reaches your desired doneness. Season with salt and cracked black pepper to taste.
  3. Butter the outside of the bread slices. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each slice.
  4. Place 2 slices of provolone cheese on each slice of bread. Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture evenly onto one slice of bread. Top with the other slice, cheese side down.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwiches until the cheese is melted and gooey, and the bread is crispy and browned on both sides.
  6. Cut the toasted sandwiches in half if desired and enjoy!
