1 lb hamburger meat
1 lb ground pork sausage
10–12 shrimp, tail off and deveined
4 cups cooked rice
2 cups broth
1.5 cup mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
1 tsp seafood seasoning
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp oregano
3 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp thyme
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
Season shrimp with seafood seasoning.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they curl and turn pink. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp oil. Add ground meats and cook until browned.
Stir in onions, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are softened.
Add all seasonings and flour, stirring well to combine.
Pour in broth and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add cooked rice to the skillet and simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
Gently stir in cooked shrimp and heat through.
