Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste, mixed vegetables, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  7. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk, butter, salt, and pepper to the potatoes. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  8. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  9. Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in the bottom of a baking dish.
  10. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef mixture, spreading them out evenly with a spatula. Use a fork to create decorative peaks on the mashed potatoes if desired.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  12. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice and serve hot.
