Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package or 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for the board
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by stirring together warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl and allowing it to proof.
  2. Combine flour, egg, 1/3 cup melted butter, and salt in a stand mixer or food processor.
  3. Add the frothy yeast mixture to the flour mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured board until smooth and elastic, then let it rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, roll it into a rectangle, cut into 24 pieces, shape into rolls, and let rise until doubled, about 30-40 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Make honey cinnamon butter by mixing softened butter, honey, cinnamon, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  8. Serve warm rolls with honey cinnamon butter.
