Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
Return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning some sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
