Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons butter
¼ cup flour
1 cup milk
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well and shape into 6 patties.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer them to an oven-proof plate and bake at 300°F for 15 minutes.
In the same skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until the mixture turns golden brown, about 7 minutes.
Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Simmer the gravy until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Return the beef patties to the skillet with the gravy. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld flavors. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or egg noodles with extra gravy.
