Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup melted butter
4 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 slices of bread, cubed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture and gently stir to ensure all bread pieces are coated. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the mixture.
Divide the bread mixture evenly among the muffin cups, pressing down lightly to compact them.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and set in the center.
While the muffins are baking, mix together the 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for the topping.
Remove the muffins from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter. Generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the tops.
Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
