Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese, cut into sticks or cubes
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten eggs, ketchup, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and dried thyme. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan. Place the cheese sticks or cubes in the center, leaving a margin around the edges. Cover with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the cheese inside.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to make the glaze. Spread this glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the glaze is caramelized.
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
