This dish is perfect as an appetizer or a light meal, showcasing the tenderness of the beef and the balance of savory and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 300g beef fillet
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Season the beef fillet with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over high heat. Sear the beef for 1 minute on each side until browned but rare in the center. Remove from heat and cool. Freeze for 1 hour to firm up for slicing.
  2. Remove the beef from the freezer and slice thinly against the grain. Arrange the slices on a plate.
  3. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, mirin, sugar, green onion, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Drizzle the sauce over the sliced beef or serve it on the side for dipping.
