- 1 ¼ cup heavy cream
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave until it’s almost boiling.
- Place the chocolate chips and butter in a large bowl.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and butter. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to soften.
- After 5 minutes, whisk the mixture until it’s completely smooth and glossy.
- Allow the ganache to cool to room temperature. This will take about 1 hour, but it can sit out longer if needed.
- Once cooled, whip the ganache with a mixer until it becomes light and fluffy.
- Spread or pipe the ganache onto cooled cakes or cupcakes.
