Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound small button mushrooms, ends trimmed
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, divided use
  • 2 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • ¾ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat 3 inches of oil in a deep pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Coat the mushrooms in ½ cup of flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the remaining cup of flour, beer, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  4. Dip each mushroom into the batter, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl.
  5. Fry 4-5 mushrooms at a time until golden brown, about 7 minutes per batch. Repeat with the remaining mushrooms.
  6. Sprinkle the fried mushrooms with chopped parsley and serve immediately for the best taste and crunch.
