Ingredients
Scale
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup buttermilk
Vegetable oil, for frying
4 sandwich buns
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Pickles
Mayonnaise or your favorite sauce
Instructions
Place chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Pound them to an even thickness.
Soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
Fry the coated chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Toast the sandwich buns if desired. Spread mayonnaise or your favorite sauce on the buns.
Place the fried chicken on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Cover with the top half of the bun.
