  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Optional: Granulated sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
  5. Shape the cookies using a cookie press, or roll into balls and flatten slightly.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle the tops with granulated sugar or sprinkles.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
