  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold butter (diced)
  • ½ cup ice water
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel and slice the apples, then toss them with butter, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  3. For the crust, mix flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add ice water until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out half the dough into a circle and place it in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture.
  5. Roll out the second half of the dough and cover the filling; seal edges.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
