- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar for glaze
- milk as needed for glaze
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together granulated sugar, butter-flavored shortening, and butter until fluffy.
- Add egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract; mix well.
- In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour.
- Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top.
- Roll tightly into a log; freeze for about 30 minutes before slicing into rounds.
- Place on parchment-lined baking sheets, pressing down slightly before baking for about 10-12 minutes or until slightly underdone.
- While cooling, prepare glaze by mixing cream cheese, melted butter, powdered sugar, and milk until desired consistency is reached. Brush glaze over warm cookies.
