Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (170°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Grease lightly.
  2. Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, combine the melted mixture with granulated sugar, whisked eggs, flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  4. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, egg, vanilla extract, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch until smooth.
  6. Pour the pumpkin mixture over the brownie layer. Top with remaining brownie batter in dollops; swirl gently for a marbled look.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean from the brownie layer.
  8. Cool completely before lifting out and slicing into squares.
