Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour + up to 1/2 cup additional flour
  • 2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup crushed Oreos
  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp artificial vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the brown sugar, black cocoa powder, and ground cinnamon for the filling.
  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the all-purpose flour, instant dry yeast, and fine salt.
  3. In another microwave-safe bowl, mix together the whole milk, softened butter, and granulated sugar, then heat in the microwave for about 60-90 seconds until warm.
  4. Gradually add the warm mixture into the flour mixture and mix on medium speed until combined into a dough.
  5. Add in one large egg and mix on low speed until a sticky dough ball forms.
  6. Continue mixing on medium-low speed for about 2-3 minutes until elastic; add additional flour as needed.
  7. Mix in the crushed Oreos until evenly distributed throughout the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for about 10 minutes.
  8. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 12 inches by 18 inches.
  9. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough surface, leaving a small strip uncovered along one long edge.
  10. Sprinkle the filling mixture and additional crushed Oreos over the buttered area.
  11. Tightly roll up the dough from one end toward the uncovered strip and cut into nine equal pieces using dental floss.
  12. Place the pieces in a greased square baking pan and cover with foil; place in the turned-off oven for about 30 minutes to rise.
  13. After rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for approximately 26-30 minutes until golden brown.
  14. To create the glaze, combine unsalted butter, powdered sugar, whole milk, and artificial vanilla extract until smooth.
  15. Let the baked cinnamon rolls cool slightly before drizzling with glaze; garnish with extra chopped Oreos if desired.
