  • 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 large yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
  • 24 dinner rolls
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion until translucent. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder; cook until browned.
  3. Drain excess fat from the beef mixture. Stir in mayonnaise until well combined.
  4. Cut dinner rolls in half and lay the bottom halves on the buttered baking sheet. Layer with sliced cheese, then evenly distribute the beef mixture on top. Add shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Place the top halves of the buns cut-side down over the filling, brush with melted butter, sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and bake for 12 – 15 minutes until golden brown.
