  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/8 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder (for coating)
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder (for coating)
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Reduce apple cider in a nonstick saucepan over medium heat until it thickens to about 1/3 cup; cool.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, both sugars, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture along with the reduced cider until just combined.
  5. Fill a greased donut pan halfway with batter and bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool slightly before coating in melted butter followed by a mixture of sugar and spices.
